Delivery tracking

With the app Delivery tracking of the provider Brevo, fepli shows whether an email has arrived, and names the addresses that no mail reaches.

Location: Settings > App-Store > card Delivery tracking from Brevo GmbH. Visible to: super admins.

Group: Communication > Delivery tracking, one provider. Provider: Brevo, servers in the EU (France).

Catalogue, states and structure of an app are described in App-Store.

What the app does

In the section What it does
“Keeps with every email what Brevo reports back: delivered, undeliverable, marked as spam, unsubscribed.”
“Gathers the addresses mail does not reach under “Delivery errors”.”
“Counts on request who opened an email and followed a link in it. Recipients can object or have to consent, as you set it.”
“Sending itself does not depend on the app: switched off, every email still goes out.”
“Nor do unsubscribes: whoever unsubscribes from emails is listed under “Unsubscribed contacts” either way.”
In the section How to use it
“In the outbox every email shows its way, and a newsletter has “Track dispatch”.”
“Communication gains the tab “Delivery errors”.”
“Required: emails leave through Brevo, and the installation has set up Brevo’s webhook.”

Card in the catalogue: “Shows whether an email arrived, and names the addresses mail does not reach.”

Behaviour

FeatureContent
AccessAPI key from the Brevo account. The app shares it with the apps SMS notifications and Replies by email.
DefaultSwitched off, even if the key is already connected or the installation sets it. The app then shows Switch on.
Measure opens and clicks“Who opened an email and which link somebody followed. Recipients can object in their account and in every email.” Default: off
Measure only with consent“On: only who consented in their account is measured. Off: whoever has not objected is measured.” Default: off
Switched onThe outbox shows Delivered or Undeliverable for every email, Communication has the tab Delivery errors, and a newsletter has Track dispatch (Outbox).
Switched offfepli no longer keeps anything that Brevo reports back about delivery. The outbox shows that an email was sent, and nothing more. The tab Delivery errors is omitted. What is already kept stays saved.
UnsubscribesDo not depend on the app. When someone unsubscribes through the link in an email, fepli blocks the address, and it is listed under Unsubscribed contacts (Outbox and delivery problems).
SendingDoes not depend on the app. Emails go out the way the installation has set up.

On the websiteUnder Notifications, Measure whether emails are opened is turned on; whoever turns it off objects.Measure whether emails are opened is turned off; whoever turns it on consents.
Rate opened“Recipients who objected to the measuring are not counted. The rate is a lower bound.”“Only recipients who agreed to the measuring are counted. The rate is a lower bound.”
In additionContent
RevocationEvery email to a recipient who is measured has Stop measuring whether these emails are opened in its footer. The link is valid for 90 days and shows “Opens are no longer measured”.
Synchronisation with BrevoWith every email fepli tells Brevo whether the opens and clicks of this recipient may be measured, and it enters every decision on the contact at Brevo. Where measuring is not allowed, Brevo counts the open and the click without the person.
Erasing the accountfepli deletes the contact at Brevo as soon as an account with a decision is erased. A missing contact counts as done. If Brevo refuses or cannot be reached, the erasure of the account stays valid.
Objection after the erasureAn objection is kept with a hash of the email address. An email to this address that belongs to no account is not measured, and with every email fepli tells Brevo that it must not measure. A consent ends with the account.
Change of addressIf an account changes its sign-in address, fepli deletes the contact of the old address at Brevo and reports the decision under the new one.

Set-up at BrevoPer-contact pixel tracking consent must be switched on in the Brevo account (Settings > Contacts); otherwise Brevo ignores what fepli tells it. The tracking pixel stays in every email: without permission Brevo does not tie it to a person.
Sending over SMTPWhere mail leaves over SMTP instead of Brevo’s API, what fepli says with each email does not reach Brevo. Then Track contacts whose consent is unknown in the Brevo account decides: set it to No when Measure only with consent is on. With Yes, Brevo also measures who objected; fepli still keeps none of their opens and clicks.
