Having offer images generated by artificial intelligence

Many small clubs in Elmsbrück have no photos of their own. For offers without an image, the offer list on the website shows a placeholder. You connect the app Generate images with AI to OpenAI and have artificial intelligence (AI) generate a cover picture for the canoe trip of the Sportverein Elmsbrück. It takes you about 20 minutes.

What you need

A super admin account. The settings are visible only to super admins.
An API key from the OpenAI account of the municipality.
The offer Canoe trip of the Sportverein Elmsbrück with title and description.

Step 1 – Connect the app Generate images with AI

fepli sends every prompt with the API key to OpenAI. OpenAI bills every image to the account the key belongs to. If the card Generate images with AI already shows From the installation, the key of the installation applies, and you do not enter one of your own.

Select Settings > App-Store.
Select the card Generate images with AI.
Under API key, enter the key from the OpenAI account.
Select Connect.

The card Generate images with AI now shows Connected.

Step 2 – Turn on image generation in the offer form

The offer form offers Generate picture only if the function AI image generation is turned on and the app Generate images with AI is connected. By default, the function is set to Off, and its note reads “Needs a provider to be set up.”

Select Settings > Offers > Fields.
In the group Media & downloads, at AI image generation, select On.
Select Save.

At AI image generation, On is now selected.

Step 3 – Open the canoe trip

As an admin, you may edit every offer and so generate an image for every offer. Organizers find Generate picture in their own offers, as long as the editing phase is running and the offer is not approved.

Select Offers.
Open the offer Canoe trip.
Switch to the tab Edit.
Open the page Media & downloads.

Under Images, it says “No images yet.”, and above it there are From Files, Generate picture and Upload.

Step 4 – Write a prompt

The prompt is sent as text to OpenAI and determines what the image shows; fepli presets nothing for it. Describe place, equipment and mood of the canoe trip, and name no people. If you lack an idea, have a prompt without text in the image written with Suggest from title and description. For this, fepli sends the title and description of the offer to OpenAI.

Select Generate picture.
Under Image description for the AI, enter the prompt, e.g. Two red canoes on a calm lake on a summer morning, life jackets and paddles on a wooden jetty, reeds on the shore, friendly mood, photo style, no text in the image.

Under the field, the button Generate picture can now be selected.

Step 5 – Generate the image

Every request to OpenAI costs money: every image, also through Generate again, and every Suggest from title and description. Stop waiting only ends the waiting: “The picture is still generated and billed.” Adjust the prompt before you generate a further image.

Under the field, select Generate picture.
Wait until the image appears. This usually takes 10 to 30 seconds.
If the image does not fit the canoe trip, select Discard, enter a changed prompt and select Generate picture again.

The image now appears above the buttons Discard, Generate again and Add to offer.

Step 6 – Add the image to the offer

Add to offer saves the image with the AI label. The website therefore writes “AI-generated” under the image, and the Credit stays empty. The Image description is read aloud to people who cannot see the image. The marked area is visible in every crop, because the booklet crops the image square and the website crops it in landscape format.

Select Add to offer.
Under Image description, enter Two red canoes on a lake next to a jetty.
Drag the frame in the image so that it encloses the canoes.
Select Save.

The image now appears as Cover picture at the top of the list, with your image description. In the list under Files, it bears the label “AI-generated”.

Step 7 – Review the image in the proof

The proof shows the offer the way families see it on the website.

Switch to the tab Proof.
On the right, under Preview, select the view List.

The preview shows the canoe trip with the generated image, and the proof check no longer reports No picture.

What you have achieved

You have connected the app Generate images with AI and generated a cover picture for the canoe trip from a prompt, described it and set it up for all crops. The image bears the AI label, and the costs go through the OpenAI account the API key belongs to.

If your case is different

If the club has a photo of its own, upload it under Images with Upload, as described in First steps for organizers.
If an organizer does not see Generate picture, they may no longer edit the offer: Find out why an organizer cannot edit an offer.
If the canoe trip is a variant, generate the image in the main offer, because variants take over its images: Date, time or variant?
