Find out why nobody moves up from the waiting list
If a place that became free was not assigned automatically, find the cause and let the waiting list move up by hand.
Prerequisites
- Account type Admin.
- The offer has Registration via the website.
Steps
- Open the offer and switch to the Allocate tab.
- In the header of the Waiting list column, read the note under “The order decides who moves up.”:
- “Moves up as soon as a place becomes free.”: The place became free while nobody was allowed to move up, and it stays free until the next trigger (Triggers). Reject in the Change participation status side panel and changes in the Allocate view do not trigger moving up.
- “Not moving up at the moment: {reason}” or “{count} places stay free, nobody moves up automatically: {reason}”: The reason names what holds up moving up (When the waiting list moves up).
- If the reason is “Registrations are still undecided.”, decide on the open registrations in the To decide column.
- If the reason is “Decisions are still in the batch.”, commit the batch.
- If the reason is “This season has “Waiting list moves up automatically” switched off.”, open the Phases page of the season:
- In the warning, select Go to the season setting.
- Alternatively, select the season in the sidebar under Seasons, or All next to it for the whole list, and in the season's row select the actions menu ⋮ > Phases.
- In the Moving up section, turn on Waiting list moves up automatically and select Save.
- If the place is to be assigned despite the lottery phase, allocation or an upcoming registration phase, let people move up by hand:
- Increase the places and turn on Move up automatically. This applies regardless of phase and switch. See Add places to an offer.
- Confirm the next person in the Allocate view.
Result
The next person on the waiting list has the place. If Move up automatically and Notify participant are turned on, they receive the email “Moved up from the waiting list to the participant list”. After a confirmation in the Allocate view, they receive their admission notice when you commit.
If it does not work
| Problem | Remedy |
|---|---|
| The reason is “The offer is cancelled.” | Nobody moves up into a cancelled offer, not even with Move up automatically. |
| The reason is “The first date has begun.” | Move up automatically no longer takes effect either. Confirm the person in the Allocate view. |
| The reason is “The offer has no date.” | Enter a date. |
