Send a password link to an account

If someone can no longer sign in with their password, send them a link with which they set a new password themselves. Accounts without a password receive no password link; send organizers a sign-in link instead.

Prerequisites

Account type Admin; for admin accounts, super admin; for participant accounts, the role View and create participants.
The account has a password and an email address and is not locked.
The person can be reached at the email address in the account. Otherwise enter the new address first: Change an account's email address.

Steps

Select Accounts.
In the search field, enter the name or the email address, e.g. name@example.org.
In the account's actions menu (⋮), select Send password link.
In the dialog, select Send link.

Result

The dialog shows Password link sent, and the person receives the email “Set a new password” with a link that is valid for 60 minutes from sending. The log of data subject rights records Password link sent.

If it does not work

Problem	Remedy
Send password link is missing in the actions menu.	The account has no password or no email address, or it is locked. You unblock a locked account first. Send organizers without a password a sign-in link.
The email does not arrive.	Send the link again; the new link replaces the earlier one. The outbox shows whether the email was delivered, with the app Delivery tracking: Track whether an email has arrived.
