Confirm an access request by comparing emojis

If a colleague sets up access to the encrypted data, confirm the new key in a conversation with that person. Only after comparing the emojis does your browser give them the key.

Prerequisites

  • You have access yourself and a passkey that unlocks, as an organizer without a passkey your password.
  • Who sees which request:
    • Requests from admins are seen by the team.
    • The first request from an organizer profile is seen by the team. Every further one is seen by the accounts of that organizer profile with access.
    • The support desk's support key is seen by the team, with “Support” instead of an organizer profile (Encryption: Support disclosure).
  • The person has Set up access open and is on the phone or next to you: Set up access to encrypted data.

Steps

  1. In the top bar, select 1 access request or {count} access requests.
  2. If the dialog asks you to unlock, unlock:
    • With a passkey: select Unlock with passkey and confirm with your passkey.
    • As an organizer without a passkey: enter your password and select Unlock with password.
  3. At the person's request, select Compare.
  4. Read the 7 emojis out to each other and compare picture and order.
  5. If all match, select They match. If one differs, select They don't match.

Result

The dialog shows Access set up once the person has confirmed as well. If it was the first account of an organizer profile, your browser then hands on, in the background, the keys of the children registered for that profile's offers.

If it does not work

“Waiting for {name}. „Set up access“ has to be open on their side.” does not go away.Ask the person to select Set up access or Access awaits confirmation and to keep the dialog open.
Compare is grey, and the request shows “Comparing with {name}”.Another member is comparing right now. Agree on who carries on.
The person calls, but you see no request.The person has not selected Create key with passkey or Create key with password yet. Or they are not the first account of their organizer profile; then a colleague of that organizer profile with access confirms.
“Checking the keys failed. Nothing was shared.”Find out with the person whether you both compared the same request, and start the comparison again.
