Connect a new device
If you work on a new computer, on a new phone or in a new browser, connect the new device with a device on which fepli already unlocks. No admin is needed for this.
Prerequisites
- Your account has access to the encrypted data.
- A connected device is next to you, for example your phone.
Steps
- Sign in on the new device and select the lock in the top bar.
- Select Connect with another device and keep the window open.
- Open fepli on the connected device and select Connect new device in the top bar. Only connect if the new device is right in front of you.
- Connect the device:
- With a QR code: if the new device is a computer, it shows a QR code. On your connected phone, select Scan QR code and point the camera at the code. There is no emoji comparison.
- With emojis: select Start comparison. Compare the 7 emojis on both screens, picture and order. If all of them match, select They match on both devices. If one differs, select They don't match.
If the new device is a phone, it shows no QR code, because a phone cannot scan its own screen; compare emojis instead.
Result
Both devices show Device connected. From now on, the new device unlocks by itself and is listed on the Security page under Connected devices.
